My family said I was a perpetual student - always taking classes or wanting to learn something new. What I think is most important about life-long learning is that you customize it to yourself - your habits, your lifestyle, your life at the time. The hardest thing I find is trying to narrow your interests to fit in your time schedule.
I've developed life-long interests in sudoku, gardening, and scrapbooking. They also have the added side benefit of helping deal with stress. Yes, I find sudoku relaxing. I like solving problems and puzzles, picturing the finished product/solution. This carries through with my gardening and scrapbooking.

Have you ever tried picross puzzles? I became addicted via Games magazine a few years ago. You can do them online but I prefer pencil-and-paper versions. I too find them relaxing. Here is an example of one you can complete online, beginning with directions:
