Blogging in Libraries

Why is blogging important in libraries?

For me, two reasons come to mind: communication and ideas. I feel as a supervisor, it is important to keep up with communication with your staff, your library, your system, and the library community. Keeping abreast of new trends helps anticipate your patrons' questions, requests and needs. I also feel that sharing ideas with the world-wide community is a time-saving devise which allows you to reap great rewards in promoting proven programing ideas. Blogging gives me a window to brag about my wonderful, artistic and creative staff.

7 and 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners

My family said I was a perpetual student - always taking classes or wanting to learn something new. What I think is most important about life-long learning is that you customize it to yourself - your habits, your lifestyle, your life at the time. The hardest thing I find is trying to narrow your interests to fit in your time schedule.

I've developed life-long interests in sudoku, gardening, and scrapbooking. They also have the added side benefit of helping deal with stress. Yes, I find sudoku relaxing. I like solving problems and puzzles, picturing the finished product/solution. This carries through with my gardening and scrapbooking.
